Economics Admissions Assessment Packages

The Economics Admissions Assessment (ECAA) is taken by applicants to Cambridge applying to Economics. This course uses the ECAA to deselect applicants from interview, so strong preparation is critical.

Section One of the ECAA tests a student’s ability to solve unfamiliar maths problems by applying their pre-existing mathematical knowledge. Section Two challenges them to construct a well-written argument in essay form.

Improve your chances of performing well in the ECAA by practicing these skills.

  • A student at Christ’s College wrote a blog post on applying to and studying Economics at Cambridge. In the post, the student recommends that students attempt TSA practice papers, too. Although the ECAA is more Maths focused, the multiple choice format under timed conditions is still good practice!
  • The Admissions Test has an essay component which can be quite daunting – this YouTube video by Jamie Miles gives some practical advice on how to approach and write an essay under timed conditions
